HTML, or Hyper Text Markup Language, is the programming language which is at the core of the world wide web. Although there are several other languages competing to succeed HTML, it remains by far the most commonly used format. Most standard websites use it to place elements such as text, images, sound files, links, backgrounds, tables, and frames.
